The Turbine series of pendant lights transform flat sheets of recycled wood veneer into lively, dynamic lamps.
The cross-grain use of the veneer gives strength to the delicate fins.
Ideation
Rough sketches were created to explore general form and construction with the goal of creating a three dimensional shade from a flat piece of veneer.
Turbine
Three distinct lamps form the Turbine series. Teak and ebony veneer contrast with the white acrylic tube.
Small circles release tension and prevent tears at the ends of each slit. Minimal hardware attaches the veneer shade to the center tube.
